Dear Ms. Martin:

Thank you for your letter of May 4, 2005 and for the information about the all night Vigil and the St. Therese Marian Vigil Society.

The listed prayer intentions of the Vigil are very important, especially at the present time in the life of the Church and of our country. They are essential if there is to be a true conversion of minds and hearts. Especially, I appreciate the prayer for the holiness of bishops, priests and religious.

Our present Holy Father has said that renewal of the Church, of families and the lives of individuals will come not from morality alone but “from an inner bond with the living God. Only if God is really a force in our existence will we have moral strength” (Salt of the Earth, page 230). This is particularly true for bishops, priests and religious. So I appreciate the goal of your efforts.

I shall be happy on some future occasion to offer the Mass at one of your Vigils.  Could you kindly contact _______ to see when it can be given a place in my calendar.

You and your family are in my prayers; please keep me in yours.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I.
Archbishop of Chicago

To Whom It May Concern:

Nancy Martin coordinates and directs the Eucharistic Adoration which takes place on the 1 st Friday of each month at Santa Maria del Popolo Parish in Mundelein, Illinois.   The evening beings with Mass and Adoration and continues into the morning where is ends with Benediction.  Nancy promotes the strong power of prayer to combat many of the social evils confronting our society, attacks on life, marriage, family, and priestly and religious life.   As a faith-filled person, Nancy realizes that the one true force for conversion of heart and mind is prayer and Eucharistic Devotion is the key to success.

I support Nancy's efforts to draw attention to the great problems facing our society and the solution which can only come through our union with Christ.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Rev. Jerome E. Listecki
Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago
Episcopal Vicar, Vicariate I

The Year of the Eucharist

Dear Friends in Christ,

The St. Therese Marian Vigil Society is a great impetus for good by encouraging the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and the laudable practice of Eucharistic Adoration for the restoration of the “four root pillars” on which Christian culture is built: Life, Marriage, Family and Priests/Religious.

Parishes can easily avail themselves of the valuable assistance offered by the Society for the establishment of these Prayer Vigils on the First Fridays. Our Lord Jesus Christ and His Virgin Mother will reward any and every effort we make to turn our hearts and those of our neighbors back to the Lord, Who deserves our love.

May God bless abundantly Mrs. Nancy Martin and her collaborators in the St. Therese Marian Vigil Society. And may many more Parishes institute these Prayer Vigils to the glory and adoration of the Most Sacred Heart of the Jesus, in veneration of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and for the everlasting benefit of souls, including our own.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Dear Friends in Christ,

The St. Therese Marian Vigil Society is a marvelous work of Christ in sanctifying His people. The mission to support the four pillars of the Church’s life is exactly what the Church needs today and will undoubtedly bear great fruit.

I have been privileged to preside at a Mass and Vigil and see the great support that the Vigils have in the local Chicago area, and I believe that this model is both attractive and easy to imitate by many.

Nancy Martin and her group of helpers have my full support in this effort and my ongoing prayers that the Vigil model will spread far and wide for the greater glory of God!

                                                                                                   Sincerely,

                                                                                                                            Rev. Thomas J.  Euteneuer, HLI
